Cloud type storage will eventually replace the need for local storage on mobile devices (laptops, phones, etc.).

Because of general internet infrastructure advances, towards increased accessibility to ever increasing higher internet bandwidths, SpaceX Starlink.

There will in the future be a decreasing need for local storage on consumer devices. That almost all mobile storage, personal or not, will be in the form of cloud storage. That local storage in that form will only serve as a buffer or temporary storage until reconnected to the internet. That data will instead be uploaded to a cloud facility, when data is needed it will be downloaded used and processed then uploaded if needed, then deleted locally again.

To add hypothesis strength, in terms of storage per cost, it cheaper to have centralized storage than discrete units. It is aso easier to maintain and upgrade in this fashion too.
